There are some things to have in mind when finding the correct size for your ring:
Our fingers are usually a bit swollen in the morning and when the weather is hot. Try to measure your ring size in the middle of the day in a normal room temperature.
The type of the fingers defines the correct measurement point A person with larger joints should take the measurement from around the joint, and a person with pointy fingers should take the measurement from the spot where the ring would normally go.
The width of the ring affects the size selection. Wide rings require approximately 5 mm larger size (circumference).
Ring sizes are always based on the inner circumference or diameter of the ring.
Three ways to find the correct ring size
1. You already have a perfectly fitting ring:
Find the inner circumference of your ring by rolling a paper shred inside the ring. Make sure to stretch the paper ring as much as possible to correspond the real ring. Mark with a pen where the paper overlap.
Measure and find the right size in the conversion table.
Note that older rings may no longer be perfectly round and the measurements may be slightly incorrect.
2. You don't have a ring to measure:
Wrap a narrow paper shred around your finger and mark where the ends overlap. Keeping the paper shaped as a circle is important, and is easier if you fold the paper double lengthwise.
The length of the straightened shred will give you the circumference of the ring and the correct ring size can be found from the conversion table.
3. Get help at your local jewelry store:
The most accurate way to find a ring size is with the right tools. Many jewellery stores have special measurement rings that can be used for finding the correct ring size.
Write down the measurements from all your fingers on a note for later use.
